Brandon
Family Background
Brandon didn’t care for rules, and he had no respect for authority. He repeatedly ran away from home, and his family life was disrupted by one crisis after another. He showed little interest in his appearance and had poor personal hygiene habits.
Behavior Issues
Before he was 15, Brandon had five separate psychiatric hospitalizations because of multiple suicide attempts and ideation. The year before coming to Boys Town, he overdosed twice. He also had many run-ins with the law. Brandon served time in juvenile detention on multiple occasions for crimes, including shoplifting and destruction of property. He often sought negative attention to gain status with and acceptance from his peers. At school, he was frequently absent and failing classes. Brandon was severely depressed and withdrawn, which he admitted were his biggest struggles.
Progress at Boys Town
Brandon began his rehabilitation in Boys Town’s Specialized Treatment Group HomesSM program. This is where he learned skills to help him solve problems, make better decisions and be more responsible and accountable for his actions. His behaviors and attitude improved, allowing him to transition into the Treatment Family HomeSM program.
Brandon continues to work on his coping and relationship-building skills. He is maintaining healthier, more positive relationships with adults, peers and his family. Academically, he also is succeeding, earning average to above-average grades. He has fewer conflicts with authority figures and is thriving in the stable family environment.
